What are the valuable/ precious things in our life?
Well, when we hear those words, 'valuable', 'precious' or any word of similar meaning, we usually remember something very valuable in this world - of worldly order - like diamonds, gold or any other precious worldly elements. But more precious are the words - 'health', 'wealth', 'peace', 'love', 'wisdom', 'power', 'glory', etc of heavenly order. These are more real and eternal whereas the worldly valuables are less real and will vanish any time.
Having good health is equal to holding a lot of gold or any other precious element because a lot goes into spending for the cure of a sick person. Similarly a happy person is the person who has peace in his/ her life. Peace comes when there are no health problems, no worries in the family, no troubles, no financial problems, no misunderstandings in the family or between friends and relatives. When there is abundance, there is peace because the person lacks nothing. This is more costly than any precious metal found on earth, but can be recognized only through the wisdom given by GOD. We need to choose the more valuable things in life through wisdom from GOD. This can happen when we once understand GOD'S love for us on cross which is too good to believe and the free gift of salvation from GOD to all mankind, that whoever believes the cross that it is true, and acknowledge JESUS as son of GOD will be saved. We should start reading GOD'S word more and more asking GOD to reveal secrets to us. Then we get wisdom - heavenly wisdom which will guide us through all situations, and also teach us many heavenly secrets.
Lets look at Mary, sister of Lazarus whom JESUS rose from death.
Mary fell down at JESUS feet saying "LORD, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." (John 11: 32). JESUS said, "Take away the stone". Martha, sister of him who was dead, said to JESUS, "LORD, by this time there is a stench, for he is dead 4 days". JESUS said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of GOD?" (John 11: 39-40). The rest we know how Lazarus came out of the tomb alive. But here we see Martha trying to stop Lazarus rising, through her unbelief (blocking stone), though JESUS is willing. But because of Mary's belief JESUS raised Lazarus. Mary could get this great faith in JESUS, because she chose the more valuable and precious thing - that is choosing to listen to word of GOD over cooking and serving (Luke 10: 40-42). And JESUS also did not take that away from her because HE knew what was needed and more important for Mary. GOD loves us to listen to HIS word more than trying to please HIM with/ through earthly things. Mary listened and developed immense faith in JESUS. Moreover, she is not just hearer but doer of what was told her. Praise GOD!!
If we understand that GOD loves a listener and doer then we will start giving less preference to earthly things because when we are filled with heavenly things, we automatically get filled with earthly things. This is the reason why JESUS asked every one to seek the kingdom of GOD first where there is no lack for any good thing. May the good LORD bless this word and enable the reader to choose the more valuable things in life being a diligent listener and doer of GOD'S word, Amen. HALLELUJAH!!
